What I like about 777? How about the fact that Jeff’s bringing the band back to Montreal!

I get a nice feel of early Tea Party all over it… and absolutely loving it. Some of my favorite songs (in order of appearance)
Ground Cries Out – Reminiscent of The Bazaar a great rockin’ tune with undertones of middle easters sounds and melodies which makes for a unique blend that only Jeff Martin can do
Queen of Spades – Jazzy/Blues Funky Rock, love it!
The Cobra – Similar tone and feel to Sister Awake, so if you like that you’ll like this one too, this song is going to be big!
1916 – This song is great when driving, it just sounds like an adventure song.
Blue Mountain Sun – Fantastic! Classic Jeff Martin instrumental reminiscent of the Splendor Solis song Haze on the Hills and The Badger. Love it Love it Love it!!!
Riverland Rambler – I get a feel of Sun Going Down and Black Snake Blues on this one. I loved all the live acoustic versions of this one all over the promo tour as well.

The Ground Cries Out is one of those rare albums that can be listened to from start to finish. I love the variety of song styles. Standouts for me include, The Pyre, 1916, The Mekong, Queen of Spades and the title track..but like I said I listen to the disc as a whole. Great work Jeff, Jay and Malcolm.

My daughter played at my wedding celebration on acoustic guitar your song “daystar”….priceless….

I feel this album encompasses all that Jeff is…transcending through the past, present, and future.. all becoming one in a moment of creative perfection that only he can manifest! (and only he could create a song like the cobra that makes me want to dance naked while chopping veggies for dinner!)

The Ground Cries Out reminds me of the feeling I had the first time that I heard The River. In the early 90s, I was invited to see a show in Montreal and had never heard of the band, The Tea Party. As I was walking in, I heard an electric and almost hypnotizing rhythm and it was The River. I was suddenly taken aback and could not believe what I was hearing. It was an instant attraction like love at first sight. The song had triggered in me a whirlwind of emotions and I was completely moved by Jeff and his output of the song. I have never forgotten that moment and it has stayed with me until this very day. I have loved so many bands but no one comes close to making me feel this way. Only Jeff’s music can move and stir my soul and The Ground Cries Out is no exception. When I first heard the Cobra, I felt like I was cheating on my husband. I felt tremendous temptation and wanted so badly to go into that garden. Incredible feeling! What music does that to you???? Only Jeff Martin can pull that off!!! Will love you & your music forever…
